Unable to get refund from Western Union

Here is a previous case by *** (Identity withheld for privacy reasons).

The client called and stated that he has a situation that has been going on for a year now, and he needs our help. He said he was trying to get a refund back from Western Union. He said they are scared to provide him with a refund, or they are lying. He said the money might be lost. He thinks he would need to arbitrate to get his refund. He said he has all the documents and gave case number XXXXXXXX. He said it was a fraudulent case, and that it was investigated by a detective, but he doesn’t understand what he was saying. He stated that the Western Union representatives have been rude to him, and they have hung up their phones on him.

He said he moved to a different state and was trying to buy an Apple computer. He was online and came across the Alibaba website that was selling the computer for cheaper, so he decided to purchase it there. He said he sent three different payments, a total of $2250, on Sept 1, Sept 10 & 13, 2021 through Western Union to three different persons to purchase the computer. He said after making the first payment, he was told that the computer was stuck at the port and he would need to send more money to get it out. He waited two months for the computer but never received it. He said he got suspicious and reported the issue to the Fraud Department for Western Union, and they informed him that the money was picked up and that there was nothing that they could do about it. He said he called the corporate office and they told him the same thing, and that it has also been too long for him to get a refund. They said they were no longer seeing his transactions and that it would take three days to put them back on the computer. He called back after three days, and they told him his transactions were now back in the computer, but he needed to file a complaint online, and include the subject ‘delay for refund’. He said he found a phone number on the complaint form that he called, and it was for the consumer complaint department that he tried telling them about his delayed refund.

He said he was scammed and Western Union is not doing anything to help. All they have done was repeated the same statement that the money was picked up and that they would not be able to help, but he doesn’t believe that.
