My son received a civil complaint about a supposed auto accident. He doesn't even recall being in an accident or mishap of any kind, and certainly, his car was not damaged in any manner. At this point, the next court date is not for several months and he has not technically been served yet with papers however I was able to find the court doc online. There is no reference to the type of damage or a police report etc. We had no knowledge of this at all, and I'm sure that the suit was filed to beat the 2-year window to file for injuries, etc.
At this point, do we simply just turn it over to the insurance company he has, as he was insured of course. He is 23 and has no assets to speak of so not really sure what they expect to get out of him at this point and I question the legitimacy of the entire thing, as well as his car, had no damage at all during this period so this is totally out of the blue.
